We don't even have to teach our kids not to speak to strangers, because there is natural propensity not to do it in the first place. <BR/><BR/>Actually, your little story reminded me of some Estonian friends who moved to the US with their 2-year-old daughter who at the time did not speak any English. She apparently learned quickly, though. About a month after their move the little girl was in a grocery store with her mom when an old lady started the usual: "Oh, you are so cute, what's your name, etc." The girl scowled at the old lady and then blurted out: "You stupid animal!"<BR/><BR/>You can guess three times whether her mom was mortified or not... :-)Triinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15548105729800561209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14614957052678187.post-54388364080190140962008-04-20T04:18:00.000+03:002008-04-20T04:18:00.000+03:00I like to think that you picked up some of that fr...I like to think that you picked up some of that friendliness from your days in the south. He'd answer: worse, thank you.pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03366905360873569179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14614957052678187.post-69568347399275995962008-04-18T22:14:00.000+03:002008-04-18T22:14:00.000+03:00A good reminder that as rude as Americans can be (...A good reminder that as rude as Americans can be (especially in big cities), we're still the smiling, bounding cocker spaniels of the world. xo/emiliE.V.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08945948863635441416noreply@blogger.com
